Hamelia

Texas Fire Bush, Orange-red flower clusters borne over a long summer season, they prefer rich soil, light shade and plenty of water, it’s heat tolerant and attracts hummingbirds.

Helianthemum

nummularium Sunrose: Perennial. This front border plant is covered with bright flowers in mid to late summer. Its gray or green foliage provides excellent contrast in the garden. It is native to the Mediterranean so keep it dry and feed it sparingly. Full sun to part shade. Height 8-12", Zones 5-9

This diverse genus offers us many wonderful filler plants for the garden and containers.  In fact, it is so diverse that it is in the process of being divided and renamed, so bear with us.  They do not need a great deal of fertilization or care, so they are easy!  Don't over water.  Zones 8-10

An unusual pineapple scent wafts from the tiny, yellow, button flowers.  This plant makes a nice addition to your patio planters and the front border.  Height 10-12"
bracteatum Annual.  If you like the classic strawflower, this is your plant.  The flowers have a papery texture and dry extremely well.  Full sun recommended.  Height 10-14".

 The gray fuzzy foliage of this clump forming perennial is prized for its curry scent. It has very blunt lines and will add vertical and horizontal structure to the garden. Flat sprays of dark yellow flowers are present throughout the spring and summer.  Full sun to part sun. Height to 2'.  Spreads to 3'. Zones 8-10

Perennial. This species is known for its velvety, trailing foliage. The leaves are small ovals. It does not have a flower of note. It will trail to 3 feet in baskets.

Heliotropium

arborescens Heliotrope
Need a little sweetness?  Plant this small shrub with extremely fragrant flowers that smell like vanilla. The leaves are a coarse dark green, and are rough to the touch.  Full sun to part shade inland.  Height 10-12".  Zones 9-10

Heuchera                       

Coral Bells Perennial. This evergreen plant with heart shaped, veined leaves is a favorite in the early spring garden.  Hummingbirds love it too. The tiny "bell" flowers are borne on slender spikes high above the foliage. Part shade. Zones 4-9

Heucherella

tiarelloides Heucherella are a cross between heuchera and tiarella and are best grown in sun in cooler climates and part shade in hot climates. Zone 4-9

Houttuynia

cordata 'Chameleon’ Perennial. This aggressive plant will fill in holes quickly, so be sure to keep it in check. The variegated, heart shaped leaves are a mix of cream, pink, yellow, and red. A real knockout! The foliage has an orange scent when bruised.The flowers are inconspicuous. Height 8-12". Full sun. Zones 5-10

Hunnemania

‘Sunlight’ This poppy from Mexico prefers dry conditions once established. It’s fast growing to 24” high with decorative dissected bluish green leaves. The flowers are a rich, glowing yellow single or semi-double 3” across. Will bloom mostly in summer and fall.

Candytuft Perennial.  This is a genus of evergreen groundcovers.  White flowers blanket the glossy foliage through the spring and well into summer.  These plants will tolerate poor soil. Full sun. Height 6-10".

Hardy Gloxinia Perennial. This garden favorite has trumpet shaped flowers with large, fuzzy foliage. It will bloom all summer and is excellent for the front border. Part sun to part shade.

Ionopsidium

perpetuum: Annual. This plant has tiny tufts of lilac flowers. Its small stature makes it the perfect size for rock gardens. Full sun. Height 1-2". Different and a great plant for late winter/early spring, reseeds.

Inula

ensifolia: Frost hardy, preferring a moist but not wet sunny or part sunny location in the garden, flowers are yellow and daisy-like.

Ipomoea

batatas Sweet Potato Vine
Tender perennial, this vine is great in hanging baskets. It has large foliage, and looks tropical!  It is tender so be sure to protect it from any hint of frost, especially if you want to harvest the tubers. Full sun to part shade. Trails to 3'. Zone 9-10
