Gaillardia             

Blanket Flower: Perennial.  This member of the daisy family has large red, orange or yellow flowers with dark brown or red centers.  It has a bushy habit.  It can be a garden specimen as well as a colorful groundcover.  Full sun. Deer resistant

Gaura

lindheimeri Perennial.  Butterflies love this plant.  Tall sprays of fluttering flowers will add a light touch to the middle of the garden.  The narrow leaves form a basal rosette. Do not over water these.  Zones 5-10

Gazania


Short-stemmed, large Daisy-like flowers used in beds. Compact silvery white or green foliage. Flowers open in the early morning and close late in evening.

Gentiana

Gentian moorcroftiana   ‘Blue Treat’  rich mid blue flowers spray out from the main crown of rich spear shaped leaves. It is high on impact, as well as charming to see, to 8”

Geraniums:

incanum  Perennial. A tougher geranium than most, this “species” geranium performs well in the garden, an easy care plant. Finely cut leaves, will grow 4” to 10” tall and 2’ wide, can be used in baskets, as groundcover, etc. part to full sun, Zones: 8-10

Hardy Geranium Hybrids

‘Ann Thompson’ gold tinted foliage forms a low spreading mound, 1” dark magenta flowers, a compact grower that fits will in containers. Zones 4-9
‘Brookside’ an improved version of Johnson’s Blue that has a more compact growth habit, dark leaves, and bright blue flowers. Zones 5-9
‘Patricia’ a vigorous hybrid and long bloomer with magenta flowers on a 3’ plant Zones 5-9

Gerbera

jamesonii Gerbera Daisy Perennial.  One of the more “refined” looking daisy flowers.  Provide full sun or part shade in hot areas, needs regular water but excellent drainage Height to 14".

Glechoma

hederacea 'Variegata' Perennial. Need some contrast in a hanging basket? Here is the plant you have been looking for. The softly scalloped leaves of green and white will creep their way through any planting, small lavender flowers. Invasive in warmer climates. Full sun.   Zones 4-9.

Godetia (Clarkia) 

Whitney 'Satin Mix'  Annual. cool season California native, dwarf, bushy variety, single flowers in a large number of colors.  Transplant carefully, roots don’t like to be disturbed!  Full sun, to 8” tall 
‘Flamingo Mix’ cut flower variety, to 24” high on sturdy stems with clusters of five to six flowers. Colors include red, lavender pink, salmon, lavender, white and rose

Golden Fleece

A short-lived perennial usually grown as an annual.  Heat-loving plant, mounding habit to 1’ high & 1.5’ wide, dark green leaves w/ bright gold flowers, blooms through till fall.  Full sun, moderate water.

Gomphrena            

Globe Amaranth
Gnome’ Series an extra dwarf and compact growing plant, Globe shaped plants are about 6” tall. Flowers are about ¾”. Does extremely well under hot and arid conditions.

Gypsophila  

muralis  Annual. An excellent choice for bedding plants.

paniculata                   Baby’s Breath
This genus contains one of the most popular cut flowers.  It is known for its well-branched stems covered with masses of tiny flowers.  Full sun to light shade, excellent drainage
‘Festival’ series is a sterile, tissue-cultured series Perennial.  This series has all of the great cut-flower qualities but a slightly trailing habit.  They are a natural for hanging baskets and containers.  'Happy' is a white flowered selection, and 'Pink' is…pink.  Royal Festival' has larger white flowers and is more compact - to 12". Do not over water.  Full sun.  Height 14-16". Zones 4-10|
'Snowflake’Tender Perennial.  Cutflower selection.  Fully double white flowers on an extremely vigorous plant.  Height 36”.  Zones 4-10
repens 'Rosea' Perennial.  This species is a dwarf trailing variety with pale pink flowers. It is an excellent choice for hanging baskets and containers. Height 6”, 12-20” wide.  Zones 4-10
